PUBLIC NOTICE

The Shire of Lake of Grace is seeking your feedback on the Shire's revised strategic plan. The plan was reviewed by both the Council and senior staff at a workshop in March 2011.

Background: The current strategic plan was adopted by Council in August 2010. However, changes to the Local Government Act 1995 from 1 July 2011 regarding the need for all local governments to commence the implementation of integrated strategic planning has seen Council undertake a review of the strategic plan.

The changes to the Local Government Act mean that the previous Plan for the Future will be removed and replaced by a Community Strategic Plan.

The current review has included the commencement of a process based on advertising and web based consultation. Submissions can be made in writing, email , through "Bang the Table", or fax. Future consultation will include direct discussion with the community including community meetings and focus groups.

Content: The revised strategic plan, considers the projects previously identified for 2011/12 – 2014/15 and the rescheduling of a number of projects from 2010/11. An example of the key projects listed in the strategic plan includes:

Completion of the Dewar St Light Industrial subdivision
Construction of the Newdegate Medical Centre
Investigation of the Lake King Hockey Oval redevelopment
Revamp of the Varley Medical Rooms

Apart from listing key projects (actions), the strategic plan also outlines the Regional Aged Accommodation Project and infrastructure funding provided through the Country Local Government Fund (Royalties for Regions).
